Easy Advent Practices: Week 4

Surprise neighbors with Christmas cookies. Talk with your kids about what it means to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).

Give your child one extra hug each day. With all the bustle and busyness of December, we can forget that the simplest practices bring the most joy. “If I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:2).

Keep Christmas cards instead of recycling them, to pray for one person or family by name each week throughout the year. “So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone…in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling-place for God.” (Ephesians 2:19-22).
