Clear The List 2022
Thank you to all who have shared their back-to-school lists with us as part of our 1st crowdfunding effort!
For weeks now we’ve been telling you about Mothering Spirit, the new ecumenical, collaborative community we’re launching this Labor Day to share stories, prayers, and resources from diverse voices to help you pray through parenting.
But now we want to hear from you – and put our collective prayer into action.
As we’re preparing to launch in September, we know many of you are preparing, too. Buying school supplies. Prepping your classrooms to welcome new students. Planning a new year of activities at church.
We want to help you “clear your list” of the everyday goods you need to do the holy labor God has called you to do.
If you share your wish list with us (usually done on Amazon or Target for easy shipping), we’ll share it with our readers. Whether you need supplies for the kids in your home, school, church, or community, we can pitch in to help.
Please note: we won’t be vetting the recipients of this effort. This is simply mutual aid we’re encouraging, taking the risk to love and give. We also can’t promise that your list will be cleared, but we’ll help spread the word!
The vision and hope of Mothering Spirit is to support each other as we care for God’s children.
We can’t do everything, but we can each do something. Let’s start today.
Check out the lists below & please give whatever you can – prayers, shares on social media, or school supplies – to support these teachers, catechists, educators, and parents! Please note that some lists may get cleared as we go, so try another if the one you selected no longer lists any items.
Teaching Kindergarten at a Title 1 school in North Carolina. Our school serves a very diverse population. I provide my students with basics such as snacks. I’m also responsible for materials such as cleaning supplies. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Teaching 2nd grade in Cleveland, TX. I am a new homeroom teacher for 2nd grade bilingual, economically disadvantaged students. I’d like to offer them the best learning experience, and being in a newly opened school at a rural area, this is definitely a challenge!
Teaching 1st grade at a Catholic school in Nazareth, PA. This is my first year back teaching first grade after being a stay-at-home mom for 13 years.
Teaching 3rd-4th grade at a Catholic school that qualifies as a title 1 school. We serve a predominantly Latino community.
Teaching at a Catholic Montessori school (3K-5th grade) in Madison, WI. Our school is inclusive of those with special needs. We operate on a “family investment” model and don’t charge tuition.
Teaching 5th grade in Littleton, CO. I’m going back to the classroom for the first time after staying home to raise my four kids for the past 11 years. I’ll be teaching 5th grade math, science, and religion.
Teaching 4th and 5th grade at a public charter school in FL. I teach in a combined classroom at a trauma-informed, conscious discipline (neuroscience-based social emotional resiliency program) school.
Homeschooling seven kids in CT, ages 2-15. And Baby #8 was just born!
Teaching 4th grade at a Title I charter school in Richfield, MN. The majority of my students speak English as a second language, and this year my focus is providing more books for Spanish speakers and providing items to create calming experiences since emotional regulation is often a big struggle.
Teaching 8th grade in Hazelwood, MO. We have no classroom budget.
Teaching music in a Title 1 elementary school. My husband is returning to the classroom after 6 years of full time music ministry. He will be teaching music in a large Title 1 elementary school (650 students) and would love assistance in building up his resources (he left most of his materials behind 6 years ago!).
Teaching middle school religion in Yakima, WA. Each All Saints Day the 8th graders are saint statues who come to life when change is dropped in their jar. A variety of saints stories helps us keep this tradition alive. Even though we are a low income school, each year we donate the money raised to a charity like CRS. It’s a beautiful day for the whole school.
